DIY Mushroom Coffee: How To Brew A Cup That Trades Anxiety for Focus

We love the ritual of coffee. For a hot minute, society went through a phase of trying to replace it...it was a fun experiment but what we learned is that people didn't want to replace coffee. What they really wanted was to replace the way it made them feel.

Most of us have realized cortisol spikes, jittery nerves, anxiety, rapid heart beat, and restlessness are NOT productive. Not to mention, they're terrible for building or maintaining quality relationships.

Enter: MUSHROOM COFFEE

The first reasonable question: Why are we putting mushrooms in coffee?

"Functional" Mushrooms contain a host of phytonutrients that create what is called an "adaptogenic" effect. In simplest terms, these compounds help adapt the body and mind to stress, making us more resilient. This is why the stress responses like anxiety or the jitters are mitigated when adding certain mushrooms to coffee.

Now you may be wondering: How do I know which mushroom coffee is best?

Ultimately this boils down to a few factors. Almost everything that is "instant mix" had to go through an incredibly high-heat process to achieve a dissolvable powder. While that's a cool engineering feat, the high heat destroys many of the phytonutrients responsible for the adaptogenic effect. High heat kills nutrients. These powders are mostly a rip-off and survive in the marketplace because of the placebo effect.

Now, I will say this...and hang in there with me. Mass produced coffee is essentially poison. It's full of pesticides, mold, and all sorts of toxic, inflammatory filth. Inorganic growing practices and long trips over the ocean on a moist boat are the primary causes for the toxins and molds. Why this matters: if a consumer is replacing their run-of-the-mill toxic coffee with a nearly inert powder, yes, they will experience a benefit. Now, I'll let you decide if that benefit is realized through the elimination of toxins, or the consumption of their product.

As a final note, and I referenced it a bit already, but make sure your coffee is organic. Growing practices matter because if you're drinking non-organic coffee, you are drinking pesticides that are definitely messing with your hormones and damaging your brain chemistry.

LIFE ITSELF'S DIY HACK:

If that information was new to you, I know...it probably felt like a doozy. It did for me when I first learned about it. Now on to the solution.

2 Simple Steps:

1.) Grab any organic coffee you like.

We start with our "Shroom Brew" It's 100% certified Organic Arabica Coffee from Columbia, blended with our patented "Cold-Lock" Instant Release Chaga.

2.) Add 2oz of our liquid Chaga Mushroom Concentrate

We extract and suspend our Chaga in liquid at low heat over the course of 72 hours. This is keeps the nutrients in tact, and delivers the highest potency effect on the market.

Why Chaga?

There are so many mushrooms that we could choose from; so why Chaga?

It comes down to a few things:

Chaga does not taste like mushrooms. It has a pleasant earthy, vanilla flavor with a smooth mouthfeel. Bottom line? It tastes good.

Chaga cannot be grown in a lab. Most mushroom powders come from China where the standards are questionable to put it kindly. We wild forage all of our own Chaga in the Green Mountains of Vermont. The soil is rich in minerals, the mushroom is growing in it's natural habitat, and therefore the potency is powerful. *As a caveat to this, some brands are claiming "organic chaga" which sounds great. It's a marketing tactic. They are inoculating oats with Chaga spores and calling it "organic chaga". This stuff has 2% of the efficacy of Wild-Harvested Chaga so beware of these scam companies selling you Chaga grown on oats.

Chaga is known as "The King of Medicinal Mushrooms". For good reason, Chaga is revered as the king. With it's immense depth and breadth of active compounds, Chaga's longevity support is unmatched in the mushroom kingdom. So, yes, we went with the most powerful.

The Wrap:

Mushroom Coffee is a new trend with emerging leaders. It was born from truth, but has since been diluted and offered to the masses. Life Itself never compromises on quality for profits, which we believe will be recognized as the marketplace matures and consumers realize which companies actually produce mushroom products that deliver.

Ditch the powders. And if you want to feel what a true mushroom coffee is meant to feel like, grab a bottle of our Chaga Mushroom Concentrate and pour 2oz into a cup of organic coffee. We'd love to hear about your experience.
